At present, there are two types of test methods for fabric permeability in laboratory.

The first kind is the test mechanism from the inside to the outside, that is, static water pressure test. This kind of method fixed the fabric on the side of the sealed container, filled the water under the standard atmospheric pressure and kept constant adding water pressure, observed and recorded the water bead on the back of the fabric under the large water pressure, and the pressure of the measured water was static water pressure. The greater the hydrostatic pressure of the fabric, the better its waterproofing performance.

The second type is the mechanism of the extrovert test, that is, the spray test, that is, to drip or spray water from a certain height and angle to the fabric to be measured. It can be used to determine the time needed to soak the water from the fabric to the other side. It is also possible to determine the amount of water absorbed by the specimen after a certain period of time or the form of water stains observed.
