Spray Rating Tester is used to determine the water resistance of any fabrics, which may or may not have been given a water-repellent finish, to surface wetting by water. It is not intended to predict waterproofness, since it does not measure the penetration of water through fabric.
1.SAMPLE PREPARETION
-
Cut off 3 180mm×180mm size smooth sample from the under-test fabric.
-
Sample pre-conditioning: take the cutoff sample to do treatment for more than 4h in the environment of relative humidity (65±2) %, temperature (21±1) ℃ to strike a balance.
【Attention】
You can’t take the sample from the front end of the under-test fabric.
2. OPERATION
The items you should confirm before your test
Sample Installation
-
Take the sample frame nip from the Water Spray Tester, unscrew the clamp button and then take the outside track.
-
Put the worked sample flat in the inside frame, then use the outside nip cover the inside frame, turn the knob and clamp the sample, the sample is in the sample frame flat and tight.
-
Hang the sample frame to the nip hole, knob end is downwards, put the bottom on the bevel.
Procedure
-
Use the measuring cup take 250ml(27±1)℃ distilled water, and then pour it into the funnel trough the funnel top.
-
The spray of 250ml water should be finish in 25~30 minutes.
-
After the spray, take the sample frame top, and hit the end, the bead on the sample will fall down, and you rotate 180 degree and hit the other end.
-
Tested sample should compare to the grade graph at once, and grade the sample at the same time.
-
Repeat the steps above to test and grade other samples.
Result calculate and test report
-
Grade every sample according to the standard grade card and note the grades, you can’t take the average value of the test result.
-
For the fuscous fabric, the standard graph is not well-content, you should do description in words to grade it.
1grade—the poured face is all wet.
2grade—the poured face is half wet, it means aggregate area of small unconnected wet face.
3 grade –the poured face is only small area wet.
4 grade –the poured face is not wet, but there is small bead on the face.
5 grade –the poured face is not wet nor the small bead on the face.
Test report
The test report should contain the content below.
-
Reference CEE.
-
The sample standard, name, material and so on.
-
Test environment: temperature, humidity.
-
Distilled water temperature
-
The Spray test grade of every sample.
