Martindale Abrasion Tester Lissajous Curve Evaluation

2022-03-24 12:53:55

Martindale Abrasion Tester is suitable for abrasion resistance test and apparent pilling performance test of woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics, decorative materials and coated fabrics.

Martindale Abrasion Tester Test Principle:

The fabric to be tested is installed in the upper sample holder and rubbed against the abrasive installed on the grinding table, and the friction trajectory is the Lissajous curve. After the specified friction stage according to the test requirements, the fabric is removed and the abrasion resistance index is calculated or the level of pilling and pilling of the sample is assessed by visual description.

Lisaaru curve is a graph formed by motion change. From a circle to a gradually narrowed ellipse until it becomes a straight line, and then from this straight line to a widened circle, repeat the movement diagonally.

Operation method:

1. Preparation of the sample

In the standard environment, it is placed for a period of time according to different standards in a tiled, unstretched state. Such as 24h (GB/T 4802.2-1997), 16h (EN ISO 12947-4:1998)

2. Sample selection

Cut a sample from different parts of the whole fabric, and the sample should be representative. In the case of fancy fabrics, the specimen shall include all the different textures and shades exhibited by the fabric.

3. Remove the load and load shaft from the testing machine

4. Remove the top plate and test fixture

5. Device for the sample

Loosen the fixing ring on the test fixture, take down the sample tablet, and put the sample into the base of the test fixture. When the tested fabric is not more than 500g/m2, a piece of polyester foam is inserted between the specimen and the sample metal plug, and no foam plastic is needed when the fabric is larger than 500g/m2 or composite fabric. The specimen on each specimen clamp shall be subjected to the same tension.

6. Device for wool felt and rubbing cloth:

Put the felt and abrasive on the grinding table, put it on the abrasive, then put the pressure ring, and tighten the nut so that the pressure ring holds the abrasive on the grinding table.

7. Put the grinding head on the abrasive and pressurize it.

8. Place the test fixture with the sample face down on the base fixture, and adjust the circular groove of the test fixture to align with the load shaft, so that the load shaft is inserted into the circular groove of the test fixture.

9. According to the standard set times, start the switch and start the test. After reaching the set times, it will automatically stop, remove the sample, and compare the standard sample photos in the rating box.

Lissajous curve:

1. Remove the material from the grinding table, use ordinary white paper with a diameter of (100±5) mm and a minimum mass per unit area of 100g/m2 on the surface of the grinding table and fix it to ensure a smooth surface.

2. Insert the stainless steel sleeve with the same diameter of the sample shaft into the shaft sleeve of the sample guide plate, and install the ballpoint pen, so that the tip of the pen and the surface of the paper are in contact with each other.

3. Turn on the Martindale Abrasion and Pilling Tester and make the number of rotations 16 times to form a complete Lissajous figure.

4. Remove the paper and make two parallel lines on it that just meet the outermost curves on the opposite sides of the figure. Draw two parallel lines for the other two sides. A total of 31 curves were checked for symmetry using the appropriate method.
